Govt-farmers meet concludes, consensus on 2 issues; next round of talks on Jan 4

Govt-farmers meet: The next meeting will take place on January 4. Tomar also said that discussions on three farm laws, MSP guarantee will continue in next round of talks.

New Delhi: The sixth round of meeting between farmer leaders and the government has concluded with partial breakthrough in the deadlock.

After meeting with farmers, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that two sides reached agreement on two issues relating to proposed electricity law and stubble burning.

“Talks were held in cordial atmosphere. Mutual agreement reached on two out of four issues on agenda,” Tomar said.

On issues of legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and revocation of farm laws, the farmer unions remain unmoved and are insistent on this demand.

The next meeting will take place on January 4. Tomar also said that discussions on three farm laws, MSP guarantee will continue in next round of talks.
