Groom’s mother beats him with slipper during wedding ceremony, VIDEO goes viral

Here is a video from Bharuwa Sumerpur village from Hamirpur district in Uttarpradesh. A couple is exchanging garlands in their wedding ceremony, when an elderly woman climbs on the stage, pushes away the photographer, and starts beating the groom with a chappal in her hand.

Things have changed rapidly in the new era and Indian families are whole heartily respecting individuals’ choices in marriages rather than family preferences. This has helped youngsters to maintain a balance in their personal lives and traditional values in many cases. But, what happens when things do not go this ideal way?

Here is a video from Bharuwa Sumerpur village from Hamirpur district in Uttarpradesh. A couple is exchanging garlands in their wedding ceremony, when an elderly woman climbs on the stage, pushes away the photographer, and starts beating the groom with a chappal in her hand. The groom tries to stay out of her reach, while the cameramen and other guests managed to pull her down. The video has now gone viral.

The woman is told to be the mother of the groom, who was opposing this marriage as the girl belonged to the other caste. Groom got married in court, despite the objection of his family. However, Bride’s father decided to celebrate it in a district court, where Groom’s family was not invited.

As per the locals, Grooms’s name is Umesh Chandra. He lives outside the town and had only come back for the wedding ceremony. It is told that the couple left the village right after the wedding.
