Hathras case: FIR lodged against all 4 PFI members, accused of inciting riots in UP

The FIR mentions of the planned conspiracy to push the state into caste-based riots and turmoil. It says that a few groups like PFI, SDPI were working in tandem as part of a conspiracy to tarnish the image of state government in the garb of seeking justice for Hathras victim.

New Delhi: A day after arresting 4 people with alleged links with Popular Front of India (PFI), an Islamist radical outfit at Mathura border while on way to Hathras, an FIR has been lodged against all of them.

As per FIR details, 6 smartphones, 1 laptop and pamphlets with Hathras written on it was recovered from these PFI members during arrest and their intention was to disrupt peace in the regions especially Hathras.

The four were apprehended in a car and were identified as Atiq-ur Rehman from Muzaffarnagar, Siddique from Malappuram, Masood Ahmed from Bahraich and Alam from Rampur.

The Popular Front of India (PFI), is a radical group and has been accused of funding anti-CAA protests in Delhi and other places.

The Uttar Pradesh police had also sought a ban on the organization.

A website — justiceforhathrasvictim.carrd.co – was also created to mobilize fake support for Hathras victim and to target Yogi govt. The website had information on how to protest safely by avoiding the police. It also listed dos and don’ts on how to stay safe during riots and in situations when police fire tear gas. It was later taken down after cops busted this plot, the FIR said further.

A day before, UP Police claimed that there was an “international conspiracy” to foment caste conflagration in the state to defame Yogi Adityanath government. Under international plot, funding was made to local PFI members to instigate violence and riots in name of justice for Hathras victim, it said.
