“I am sitting in peace, hands are tied”: Alka Lamba’s protest against Agnipath, gets teary-eyed [WATCH]

“I am not crying, my injury will be healed tomorrow. Do you have the right to raise your voice in a democracy?”

New Delhi: Alka Lamba’s high voltage ruckus has come to the fore amid the Enforcement Directorate’s questioning of Rahul Gandhi and Congress’s protest against the Agnipath scheme.

Alka Lamba, who was raising slogans against the central government while sitting on the road with other party workers, was forcibly tried to be lifted by the women cops.

While women police officers were trying to get her off the ground, she narrated the pain of ‘youth’ to the media with teary eyes, entangled with the cops and further laid down on the ground.

Here’s what happened:

Congress leader Alka Lamba, who joined the grand old party after resigning from Aam Aadmi Party in 2019, was demonstrating ‘Satyagraha’ with other party workers for the central agency’s investigation against Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case and the newly launched Agnipath recruitment scheme in armed forces.

Though, when traffic on the road started getting disrupted due to the protest, the police came in action to remove the protesters off the functional road. In the process, a scuffle was seen between the congressmen and the police force.

While some women cops tried to get Lamba off the streets, she got engaged in a brawl with officers.

“‘I am sitting peacefully, hands are tied, but the security forces tried to break my neck”, she told the media and later laid on the ground while the police personnel tried to get her off the road.

“We want to sit here, we have a democratic right. People are crying about the condition of the country. I am not crying, my injury will be healed tomorrow. Do you have the right to raise your voice in a democracy? We do not agree with your Agneepath. Crores of the youth of the country are agitating on the road. Is anyone listening?”, she said.
