
New Delhi: Heavy snowfall in Kashmir for last few days has brought life to a standstill in the valley. With knee-deep snow, roads remained blocked with no vehicular traffic.
In such trying circumstances, a video of Army men carrying a pregnant women to hospital, on their shoulders, is going viral on social media. The heart-warming video is winning praise from people as they laud the humanitarian face of jawans.
On January 6, amid snowfall, COB Bunawadar received a call for help regarding a heavily pregnant woman. The Army team rescued woman with pregnancy-related complications by carrying her for many kilometres in knee-deep snow.
The Army men came to swift rescue after they received a call from a distraught Ghulam Mh Mir, a resident of Pethawadar area of Handwara in North Kashmir. He said that his daughter was due to deliver and the family was unable to take her to hospital because of heavy snowfall.
The troops carried pregnant woman in knee depth snow on a stretcher to nearby Primary Health Centre. At the same time, a Nursing Assistant was sent to the PHC to assist a local nurse (male) for checking her blood pressure levels and stabilizing the pregnant lady.
Neema Bano was in the final stages of her pregnancy. It was snowing heavily & roads were blocked. Not knowing what to do, her father called Kilo Force (Rashtriya Rifles) for help. Soldiers carried her on their shoulders for hours, to a hospital.

Since all roads were blocked due to heavy snowfall, the woman was given primary aid at this centre. Again, the Army men took the pregnant woman on a stretcher to the location where transportation was available i.e. 3 km from the PHC.
Later that evening, the baby was delivered healthy and the mother and the baby reached home safely. The Army’s generous act won it huge admiration from the family.
