On August 5th, the minor was attacked and was undergoing treatment in at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science. According to the health facility, she was referred only after examining various tests as she needs specialised treatment.
This comes after Jharkhand Chief Minister who faced backlash for not helping Ankita, and died in the hospital, had directed officials concerned to extend all support to the victim and her family.
According to the statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office, the government has provided an assistance of RS 1 lakh to the victim’s family.
The victim’s mother who was also injured in the attack said that the accused was harassing her daughter for last two-three months. He lives about 2.5 km from their house in Dhebo. She also demanded strict punishment against the culprit.

Meanwhile, the accused has been arrested and legal investigation is underway.
Ankita set on fire, dies
Earlier, Ankita, a Class 12 student of Jharkhand’s Dumka was set on fire by a youth, who was harassing her for turning down his proposal, on August 23.
Ankita breathed her last on Sunday (August 28) after battling for life at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi for five days.
After her death, a video was circulated on social media where she had expressed her last wish.

Two accused was arrested in this case. On August 23, Shahrukh, the main accused was arrested soon after he committed the crime based on the girl’s complaint. Meanwhile, the other accused Naeem alias Chhotu Khan was arrested and sent to jail on Tuesday.
