New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday appointed Kanhaiya Kumar as the in-charge of National Students Union of India (NSUI), with immediate effect.
The NSUI is the student wing of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
The decision to appoint Kanhaiya Kumar as President of Cong’s youth wing comes on back of party’s effort & endeavour to put up a strong challenge to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
The top brass of Congress met today to firm up its strategy & focus for the impending elections in couple of states slated this year and Lok Sabha elections next year.
Kanhaiya Kumar’s elevation as NSUI chief is likely to invite criticism & strong reactions from the BJP, as the former faced charges of leading anti-India slogans at the Jawahar lal Nehru (JNU) campus, couple of years ago.
