Kerala Governor shares 2019 heckling incident VIDEO, lashes out at state govt

The serious charges by Kerala Governor come on back of recent tussle with state govt over the University Laws Amendment Bill. Kerala Assembly has passed the bill and is awaiting governor’s nod for the same.

New Delhi: Sharpening attack on Pinarayi Vijayan government, the Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Monday shared a video from 2019 and disclosed how the state police remains a ‘dummy force’ and works as per whims & fancy of Kerala government.

The 2019 video clip reportedly shows him getting heckled at Kannu University event while the Kerala Police stood as mute spectator. Governor claimed that police hands were ‘tied’ by the state government.

He shared the videos of 2 incidents and said that one of the functionary who could be seen in the video directing policemen to remain mute spectators has recently joined the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

“The police personnel tried to control the situation and stopped the people from reaching me. But, a senior functionary, who is in CMO prevented police from discharging their functions.”

The serious charges by Kerala Governor come on back of recent tussle with state govt over the University Laws Amendment Bill. Kerala Assembly has passed the bill and is awaiting governor’s nod for the same.

Arif Mohammed Khan said that he will not allow the Bill as it seeks to legalize illegalities and pave the way for appointment of “unqualified relatives” of the staff of CMO & his cabinet ministers.

Insisting that he cannot be used as a rubber stamp, Khan said that state govt can not curtail his powers as it was who administered the oath of office to them and not the other way round.
