Maha cabinet minister tested positive for Covid-19, 3rd minister to get infected; What Uddhav said on lockdown

Earlier, Cabinet Minister and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, were diagnosed with COVID-19 and have recovered.

New Delhi: As the Covid-19 pandemic keeps pummeling the Maximum city, a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government has been tested positive for Coronavirus.  Dhanajay Munde, minister from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), hailing from Marathwada region, has been tested for Covid-19.

Delhi covid hospitalHis five staff members have also been tested positive for Covid-19 and have been put in isolation. The Minister reportedly attended the cabinet meeting held at the state secretariat earlier this week.

He is the third cabinet member in Maharashtra to test positive for the viral infection.

Maharashra continues to be the epicenter of Coronavirus, with over more than 97,000 cases of infection and more than 3,500 deaths in the state alone.

Uddhav dismisses lockdown rumours

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, on Friday, clarified that the state government had not re-announced the lockdown and urged the people to follow the government guideline on safety and precautions against COVId-19. The CM’s clarification comes after rumours of a lockdown re-announcement made rounds amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in the state capital of Mumbai.

The CMO said that the CM has requested and appealed to the people not to crowd anywhere and follow the instructions given by the government. The state has reported 152 deaths in the last 24 hours.
