Monsoon mayhem in Himachal: How rains played havoc, scary VIDEOS surface

The incessant rains filled up state’s rivers to the brim and many scary visuals emerged showing the nature’s fury in the hilly state.

New Delhi: Monsoon brought a welcome respite from the sweltering heat, especially for people in the plain areas including Bihar & Uttar Pradesh. However, it turned into a nightmare for hilly terrains in Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand.

Many regions in these two states witnessed swelling rivers & lakes, threatening to take everything what blocked its way. While heavy rains battered Himachal Pradesh, landslides & avalanaches were reported from a couple of areas.

Heavy destruction occurred in past two days and to make matters, the Met department has predicted more rainfall in days to come. Himachal Pradesh government has also urged people to stay indoors and refrain from venturing outside, unless essential.

In videos that surfaced on social media, vehicles & shops were seen washed away in the floods while road bridges collapsed at some places.

Many people have taken to social media to share the frightening visuals of how gushing water has made life miserable in the hills. The heavy rains, coupled with cloudburst in some areas, resulted in flash floods and the gushing waters were taking everything away.

A user posted the video of Manali-Kullu highway, in which a portion of road is being taken away. The video was apparently shot from the balcony. Another user shared a video win which cars, bikes & ATM machines were being swept away by Beas river in Manali.


Uttarakhand, also battered by torrential rains saw major upheaval in daily lives, with people unable to move due to blocked roads & highways.
