When asked about ‘basis of voting’, the people rated CM face as the topmost agenda for electing new government. Party and MLA candidates came as other areas of concern (25% & 43%) for casting their ballot.

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh is the leading state of ‘pack of five’ that are headed for Assembly elections, later this year. Amid reports of see-saw battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, an Opinion poll conducted by IBC24 has gauged the latest mood of public in the poll-bound state. The Survey also enquired people about various burning issues and collated their opinion on Shivraj Chauhan government.

The IBC24 in its survey sought opinion of the electorate on multiple issues related to ruling dispensation as well as main opposition party Congress.

As per Survey, Shivraj government’s 3 schemes found reverberating support from people – Ladli Behna, Ladli Laxmi & CM Rozgar. When asked to rate them on popularity quotient, 51% people voted for Ladli Bhena Yojana while 24% & 25% people thought that Ladli Laxmi & CM Rozgar were among other most popular schemes of the ruling dispensation.

Congress, led by veteran Kamal Nath, has been wooing people with multiple poll promises, ranging from monthly allowance to cylinder subsidy. When the IBC24 survey enquired about which Cong promise was most popular & pro-people, about 37% ‘voted’ in favour loan waiver while cylinder subsidy, Old Pension Scheme (OPS) & monthly allowance for women received 29%, 27% & 7% support respectively.

When enquired about most popular CM face, the incumbent Shivraj Singh Chouhan stood but he faces stiff competition from Cong’s Kamal Nath. Shvraj fetched backing of 49% people while Kamal Nath also got support of 44% people.

Shivraj - Kamalnath

When asked about ‘basis of voting’, the people rated CM face as the topmost agenda for electing new government. Party and MLA candidates came as other areas of concern (25% & 43%) for casting their ballot.

As expected, the anti-incumbency against Shivraj government also showed up in the survey numbers. When enquired about pace of development in last 5 years, the answer was as disappointing as distrust in the government.

More than 50% people said there was no development in state in last 5 years while 40% also showed approval with Shivraj govt’s works. 18% respondents described the development works as ‘excellent’.

The last question about expected seat share in upcoming elections drew mixed response. IBC24 survey found that the opinions are highly divided but Shivraj-led BJP manages to get that little edge, to stay in power.

The survey pegs seat projection for BJP at 110-120 seats while Congress is projected to come close second with 101-110 seats. Others are expected to ‘irrelevant’ as they are seen fetching 5-10 seats.

IBC 24 is a news channel with major presence in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. In its survey, it gathered views from about 30,000 people via digital means.
