New Delhi: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu is set to a free man from April 1 (Saturday). He is likely to walk out of Patiala jail tomorrow, said reports.
A tweet was posted by Navjot Singh Sidhu’s official Twitter handle today. It said, “the concerned authorities have confirmed his release from jail tomorrow.”
Sidhu, who was given one-year-rigorous imprisonment in a 1988 road rage case by the Supreme Court, has almost completed 10 months of sentencing. However, his jail term has been curtailed on account of good conduct inside the prison, reported a Hindi portal.
His scheduled release from the prison was on May 16 and if gets 45 days remission, he would be walking out of prison on April 1.
Sidhu’s wife tweet ahead of his release
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the wife of politician Sidhu posted a heartfelt message today.
She has been battling cancer and recently put details of her illness in public domain saying that she was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer and heading for surgery.
“In a fit of anger, to teach him a lesson I asked for death. God’s grace was waiting but with a rider,” she wrote in the poignant message.
