
Northeast Delhi clashes: Head constable killed, Section 144 imposed at ten locations
New Delhi: Delhi Police head constable has died in the Maujpur violence in Delhi. The constable, identified as Ratan Lal, was posted as ACP of Gokalpuri office in Delhi.
Head Constable Ratan Lal had sustained grave injuries during the stone-pelting in the area during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest.
Section 144 CrPC imposed
Meanwhile, Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed at 10 locations in the North-east district of the national capital after the clash.
Situation Under Control
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-East Ved Prakash Surya took stock of the situation and said that they have spoken to both sides to calm the situation. “We have spoken to both sides, now the situation is calm. We are continuously speaking to people and now the situation is under control,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal on Violence
Responding to news of the violence Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called it “very distressing news” and urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah – under whose control Delhi Police rolls up – to “restore law and order and ensure peace and harmony is maintained”

Political analyst Yogendra Yadav also took to Twitter to raise alarm over the clashes, tweeting an appeal to Delhi Police on behalf of “various activists”.
“Various activists request @DelhiPolice to take ALL necessary action in North East Delhi to prevent communal violence. This is URGENT,” Mr Yadav, who was formerly a member of Chief Minister Kejriwal’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) posted.

On Sunday, stone-pelting took place between two groups in Maujpur due to which the police resorted to firing tear gas shells in order to disperse the mob. Maujpur area is close to Jaffrabad metro station area, where women are holding a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) amid heavy security.
The entry and exit gates at Jaffrabad Metro Station had also been closed on Sunday morning due to the anti-CAA protest.
