Opposition trying to defame India: CM Yogi tears into Cong over Pegasus snooping row

CM Yogi lambasted the Congress-led Opposition for their attempts to stall the Parliament proceedings and for deliberately creating a ‘negative’ atmosphere.

New Delhi: With the Pegasusu snooping row obstructing the smooth functioning of Parliament, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday tore into the Opposition including Congress.

CM Yogi lambasted the Congress-led Opposition for their attempts to stall the Parliament proceedings and for deliberately creating a ‘negative’ atmosphere.

He questioned the negative attitude of the Opposition and asked why the issues of people were not allowed to be raised in the parliament.

“For the past two days, the Opposition has been trying to vitiate the atmosphere of the country over the Pegasus issue and it only proves their sick mentality. Congress governments had been doing such things during their tenures and now the party is following the same while in Opposition,” CM Yogi said.

Opposition trying to sully India’s image

“Opposition has become a part of a conspiracy to defame India. Similar conspiracy was hatched during the India visit of former US President Donald Trump,” Adityanath said.

Over the past several years, it has become easy to grow numb to statistics showing the amount of digital data being generated.

Pegasus spyware snooping has rocked the Monsoon session of Parliament. BJP leaders have already questioned the timing of Pegasus leaks as it was released just a night before the beginning of Monsoon Session.

The explosive issue led to fireworks in the Parliament with Opposition demanding answers and government reiterating that there was no unauthorized snooping.

The Centre has already categorically rejected the charges and said that attempts were made to “malign” Indian democracy even as the Congress and the BJP sparred and the main opposition party demanded the sacking of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

A leading Indian portal in collaboration with international media consortium reported on Sunday that over 300 verified mobile phone numbers, including of 2 ministers, over 40 journalists, 3 opposition leaders and 1 sitting judge were targeted for hacking through the spyware.
