New Delhi: PM Modi paid his tributes to Swami Atmasthananda on his birth centenary. PM Modi said that be it Adi Shankaracharya hundreds of years back or Swami Vivekananda in modern times – our ‘Sant parampara’ has always proclaimed ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat.’
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission President Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj died on February 21, 2015 after prolonged illness at the age of 98.
Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj was born in May 1919, at Sabajpur near Dhaka.
He received the “emantra diksha” from Swami Vijnananandaji Maharaj (a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna) in 1938 and joined the Ramakrishna Order at Belur Math in 1941 at the age of 22.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi had informed that he will be addressing a programme via video conferencing to mark Swami Atmasthananda’s birth centenary.
Swami Atmasthananda Ji devoted his life to serving society. PM @narendramodi had the honour of knowing him for many years and always receiving his blessings. At around 10:45 AM, PM Modi will address a programme via video conferencing to mark Swami Atmasthananda’s birth centenary.
