PM Modi to meet Chief Ministers of 7 states today, to review Covid-19 status and response

PM Modi to meet CMs of 7 states: More than 63% active cases are concentrated in 6 States and 1 UT which include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Delhi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high level meet with the Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of 6 States and 1 Union Territory with high caseload of Coaronavirus. In the high-level meet through video conference, PM Modi will review the status and preparedness of COVID response and management in these states.

More than 63 per cent of the active cases of the country are concentrated in these 6 States and 1 Union Territory. They include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Delhi.

The meeting comes just ahead of the completion of Unlock 4. This is the last phase of unlocking the economy while fighting Coronavirus and this come to an end on September 30. Till now, PM Modi has held several virtual meetings with the CMs to discuss the Covid-19 situation.

This meet comes in wake of rampaging speed with which Covid-19 is spreading and remains largely centred in these 7 states. Other states too are contributed to Corona count but these states alone account for 63-65% of total covid-19 cases in the country.

In fact, surge in numbers has also been seen in these states namely – Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Punjab.

Coronavirus testing

Till date, India has recorded 56 Covid-19 cases, however recovery rate has also been very high, apparently highest in the world.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 18,390 fresh Covid-19 infections, pushing the total to 1,242,770 while Delhi recorded 3,816 fresh cases, taking the tally to over 2.53 lakh.
