Why no FB post/Tweet in past 2 days?

Netizens are curious and anxious to know the reason behind this ‘silence’ while various speculations keep doing the round.

No communication from PM Modi’s social media handles is perplexing more so at a time, when Cyclone Yaas threat is looming large. During such critical times, PM Modi’s accounts keep buzzing be it regarding information, direction to officials or assurance to state govts but this time, the silence is bewildering for all.

One such theory being actively discussed in various circles is about Prime Minister walking the talk on regulating global giants like Twitter and Facebook. Lately, both the social media behemoths have been at odds with government policies and have failed to follow nation’s protocols despite repeated requests from government.

This could be seen as direct signal from the top to the two global giants that it’s time they atone for their fallacies and make necessary amends.

Last year, PM Modi tweeted ‘May give up social media’

On March 2, 2020, Prime Minister tweeted that he might give up social media, sending the netizens in frenzy. The cryptic tweet baffled many while others were left scratching their head. Some speculated that PM was planning a social media detox.

“This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted,” he tweeted from the handle @narendramodi.

The tweet created a flutter as within minutes #NoSir started trending with social media users urging Modi not to give up his social media accounts.
