Red-faced Akhilesh sacks 11 district chiefs as many zila panchayat nominees fail to file papers

Yesterday, Akhilesh Yadav expelled Farrukhabad leader Sachin Yadav from party for 6 years for alleged involvement in ‘anti-party activity’.

New Delhi: In an surprise move, the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday sacked 11 of its district unit presidents after many of the party’s nominees didn’t turn up for filing their nomination papers for the post of zila panchayat chairman.

The move is being seen as an attempt to hand out a stern message that party leaders & cadres can’t be complacent and lackadaisical.

Yesterday, Akhilesh Yadav expelled Farrukhabad leader Sachin Yadav from party for 6 years for alleged involvement in ‘anti-party activity’.

In Bhadohi, the party’s nominee, Shyam Kumari Maurya, whose candidature was announced about a month ago, did not turn up for filing her nomination. In Gorakhpur, SP candidate Jitendra Yadav was also not able to file his papers.
Meanwhile, the BJP has claimed that 25 candidates were set to win Zila Panchayat chief elections unopposed.

On Saturday, nominations were filed in all districts of the state for the post of zila panchayat chairman, and the polling will take place on July 3.
