New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan expanded his cabinet on Thursday after much delay, apparently due to Covid-19 triggered lockdown.

A total of 20 cabinet ministers and 8 ministers of state took oath on Thursday. However, those from Jyotiraditya Scindia camp got lion’s share of seats in Shivraj Chouhan cabinet as 12 of his loyalists took oath as ministers while many senior BJP leaders were snubbed. This takes the total strength of Shivraj cabinet to 33 as 5 cabinet ministers were sworn in earlier.

Scindia roars after he has his way

While speaking to reporters after the cabinet expansion, Scindia tore into Congress seniors including Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh for ‘looting the state’ in last 15 months. He also asserted that he didn’t need any certification from them.

Congress is not what it used to be: Scindia after joining BJP

‘Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai’ – was his one line message to the Congress stalwarts. His reply was apparently in response to attempts to tarnish his image over switching loyalties. MP Congress has been repeatedly painting him as ‘betrayers who changed allegiance for their personal benefits.’

Scindia’s filmy style rejoinder garnered much attention because MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also spoken the same line in the past.
