New Delhi: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has written to the 15 Shiv Sena MLAs, and thanked them for their support during tough times, without surrendering to the pressure of threats or offers.
This comes after a majority of the Shiv Sena MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, rebelled against the party leadership, asking it to snap ties with the NCP and the Congress last month.
The revolt resulted to the collapse of the Thackeray-led government. Following this, Eknath Shinde, was sworn in as the chief minister of the state on June 30, while BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the deputy chief minister.
While, Uddhav Thackeray has also called for a meeting with all Shiv Sena MPs to take a decision on the next week’s presidential election.
The meeting will be held at at his residence ‘Matoshree.’
Earlier, some Shiv Sena MPs had asked the party leadership to support Droupadi Murmu.
At the Centre, Droupadi Murmu, is the nominee of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
