Tractor rally violence: Farmer leaders including Rakesh Tikait booked, here is how they ‘incited’ rioters

As per reports, one of FIRs registered in Nangloi station, names at least 40 farmer leaders who were negotiating the talks with government over farm laws. Yogendra Yadav’s name features in that FIR too.

New Delhi: After the violent protest by agitating farmers during tractor rally on January 26, the Delhi Police has lodged FIR against noted Kisan Union leaders for alleged complicity in the chaos that unleashed on city’s streets.

In its FIR, the Delhi Police has mentioned names of farmer leaders including Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil and Joginder Singh Ugraha for breach of NOC issued regarding farmers’ tractor rally.

In the FIR, BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has also been named. One of his pre-rally video is doing rounds on social media, where he is apparently provoking and inciting farmers for showing their might.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police is scanning the mobile phone recordings and CCTV footages from areas where violence broke out to identify the suspects.

A total number of 22 FIRs have been filed in connection with the violence.

Tourism Minister seeks report on violence

Meanwhile, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel visited the Red Fort to take stock of the damage caused by farmers who stormed the monument. The minister has sought a report on the incident.

“I do not want to say anything on the issue yet. I have sought a report, let it come,” Patel said.
