New Delhi: At a time when the states are battling rising cases of Coronavirus, Tripura government has launched a unique program to boost the immunity of state residents, in order to make them less prone to Covid-19 infection.
Biplab Deb government has decided to distribute pineapple and lemon juice in all districts from 12 PM – 4 PM, every Saturday.
Since pineapple and lemon are rich in Vitamin C and have potential to enhance the immunity, the state government has tried to harness its ‘antibody properties’ in safeguarding the population from Coronavirus.
How the ‘Mukhyamantri Corona Pratirodh Abhiyaan’ will work
# Self-Help Groups (SHG) of Deendayal Antodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) shall distribute Pineapple and Lemon Juice.
# ULBs may select one SHG for one ward.SHG should arrange cart/• shop/ table with covered top for storage, cutting and distribution of seasonal fruits.
# SHGs may be allowed to directly purchase the seasonal fruits from• farmers.
# One SHG may be allowed to distribute maximum 200 Pineapples and• 400 Lemon (in juice form) in a week in one ward.
# Self Help Groups shall incur the expenditure from their revolving• funds. ULBs shall reimburse the expenditure of SHGs within 7 days.
# Amount approved shall be transferred to the bank account of SHGs• through Direct Benefit Transfer. In no case, cash payments shall be done by the ULBs.
# Each SHG should deploy 5-6 members as volunteers to monitor the• queue, maintain social distancing near the distribution point.
# Health Inspectors or the staff designated by the Municipal• Commissioners/ CEOs/ EOs of Urban Local Bodies shall ensure following social distancing and hygienic norms:
For the successful implementation of the program, the state government has sanctiond ₹1 Crore for 1 month.
