U’khand CM asks officials to ramp up Covid-19 testing, urges people to follow norms in festive times

“If anyone has slightest of symptoms, he/she should get the test done. All steps should be taken to prevent spread of Covid-19 during festive season and Winters,” Uttarakhand CM said.

New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state and issued clear instructions to the officials on fighting the menace.

CM Trivendra Singh Rawat directed the authorities to ramp up testing and also to ensure that people follow all health protocol during the festive season.

Uttarakhand CM’s instructions comes a day after Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan interacted with health ministers of 8 states regarding Covid crisis.

During meeting with officials, Trivendra Singh specifically asked authorities to made extended efforts for compliance with Covid-norms in cities like Dehradun, Haridwar, Udhamsingh Nagar and Nainital.

“People must continue wearing masks, maintain social distancing and frequently sanitise their hands in market places for the next 15 days. Authorities must also ensure that results of COVID tests reach people within 24 hours in urban districts and within 48 hours in rural districts,” Rawat said.

The Chief Minister also maintained that people should avoid overcrowding at shops during festivals.

“If anyone has slightest of symptoms, he/she should get the test done. All steps should be taken to prevent spread of Covid-19 during festive season and Winters,” the CM added.

Currently, there are more than 4,000 active coronavirus cases in Uttarakhand, as per data from the Union Health Ministry. As many as 61,451 people have recovered after being treated for the disease, while 1,086 succumbed to the virus in the state so far.
