UP block panchayat chief election results: BJP wins big, Samajwadi party wiped out

Marking a major victory, the BJP won all seats of 8 blocks in Lucknow and Kannauj and registered victory in 6 out of 8 seats in Moradabad and 3 out of 6 seats in Bhadohi.

New Delhi: For the recently held elections for block panchayat chief in Uttar Pradesh, counting of votes polled for the 476 posts concluded on Saturday. Counting was held from 11 am to 3 pm and certificates were issued to the victorious candidates.


Marking a major victory, the BJP won all seats of 8 blocks in Lucknow and Kannauj and registered victory in 6 out of 8 seats in Moradabad and 3 out of 6 seats in Bhadohi.


In Sitapur, BJP won 15 seats out of 19 while 3 seats were won by Akhilesh-led SP. In Hardoi, BJP won 14 seats out of 19 blocks. SP got only 1 seat and independent candidates won 3 seats each.

The saffron party won unopposed in 14 seats in Agra while in Barauli Aheer, it defeated SP.

PM Modi congratulates CM Yogi, party cadres

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took to Twitter to congratulate UP Chief Minister for the stupendous performance in block panchayat elections. Extending wishes to party cardes, PM Modi said CM Yogi’s policies were benefitting the common people and this mandate was a reflection of this.
