World listening to India with more attention, Indian media must go global: PM Modi

“Like Indian’s local products, its voice is also becoming more global. The world is listening to India more intently. So, the Indian media also needs to go global”, said PM Modi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underlined the need for inculcating habit of reading books among the Gen Next and said that in this age of text, tweet and “Google guru”, that their value and worth must not be belittled in any way.

The Prime Minister also called upon to people to designate a place for books while constructing a house and all the members of the family should make a habit of reading something every day.

PM Modi made these remarks while inaugurating the Patirika Gate in Jaipur and releasing two books authored by Patrika Group chairman Gulab Kothari through video conference.

PM Modi also said that the world is now listening to India with more attention and hence the Indian media also needs to go global.

“India’s local products are going global. India’s voice is also becoming more global. The world is listening to India more intently. India has a strong presence on every international platform. In such a situation, the Indian media also needs to go global”, PM Modi said.

PM Modi described the writers as guides and teachers of society.

“Almost every big name during the freedom struggle was associated with writing. Our great saints and great scientists were also writers. In any society, the enlightened section of the society, the writers, are like a pioneer. They are the teachers of society. Schooling gets over, but the learning process lasts the entire life, it goes on every day,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi also lauded the role of media in fighting with the COVID pandemic. He said that the media has served people in an unprecedented way by spreading awareness on the COVID pandemic and by analysing government works and pointing out their shortcomings.
