Yogi govt firms up plan to fight Covid-19 in villages, to set up medical colleges on PPP model in 16 remote districts

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s primary thrust is not only to improve the state’s healthcare system but also to provide the latest technology for treating the COVID-19 as well as other patients.
Until a few years ago, the healthcare services of the state were considered insufficient in terms of medical facilities.

But through some clear thinking and sheer determination, CM Yogi has turned the tables around making the state one of the best in terms of health infrastructure. Now, people do not need to travel long distances to get proper treatment.

The state only had 12 medical colleges ever since independence but CM Yogi has equipped UP with 30 new state medical colleges within a short span of just four years.

Raising 700 seats of MBBS not only enhanced medical facilities but also made the path of medical field easier for the youth. The new seven colleges have been constructed in Ayodhya, Shahjahanpur, Basti, Bahraich, Firozabad, Badaun and Gautambuddh Nagar, which have been helping in improving the healthcare services in the state. Now, the patients from adjoining states are also taking treatment here. Academic sessions at most of the new medical colleges have already started.

Apart from these, the construction of eight medical colleges have been started in Deoria, Siddharthnagar, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh and Ghazipur.

Largest Network Of Medical Services

Keeping in mind the villagers, farmers, laborers and the poor, who are the most affected by the lack of health services, the Yogi government has set up the largest network of medical services in rural areas within four years.

Construction of 29 new community health centers (CHCs) was started with a total of 937 CHCs operating in the state. As many as 114 primary health centers are under construction with a total of 3,691 operating in the state.
The Yogi government ensured the availability of doctors and medical staff in health centers in rural areas. Within four years of its regime, every hospital is equipped with modern facilities for screening and treatment.

To improve health facilities in rural areas, the government has allocated Rs 5,395 crore for National Rural Health Mission, Rs 1300 crore for Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Rs 142 crore for Ayushman Bharat-Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.

Increase In Beds To Treat Accidental Cases

In view of the increase in the number of patients due to rising road accidents in the state, beds were expanded in the trauma centers of Level-1. Considering the SGPGI and KGMU’s Trauma Center, the number of beds and ventilators has been increased.

Medical Colleges to be constructed on PPP Model

With the commitment to provide affordable and up-to-date medical facilities to the people of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has planned to construct a medical college in each of the 75 districts of UP. His novel concept of Jan Arogya Mela is also a similar endeavour to take health services close to the homes of the people.

In this sequence, the government has planned to open medical colleges on the Public-Private-Partnership model in 16 districts of the state that do not have any college till now.
