New Delhi: ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ elderly owners who shot to fame via social media have again become the talk of town, this time for their new restaurant in South Delhi.

Kanta Prasad, owner of small eatery in Malviya Nagar had driven many to tears after a food vlogger named Gaurav vasan posted their video requesting people to visit the small roadside outlet to pull them out of penury. Pandemic and subsequent lockdown had pushed them into extreme conditions and they didn’t have enough savings to make both ends meet.

Indian and Chinese meal on menu

Now, 80-year-old Prasad and his wife have opened brand new eatery in the same area in Malviya Nagar, where his roadside food stall was located.

Speaking to media, Kanta Prasad said that he is very happy and wish to serve Indian and Chinese cuisine in his restaurant. Kanta Prasad also thanked people for supporting him and requested them to visit his restaurant.

“I appeal to them to visit my restaurant. We will serve Indian and Chinese cuisines here,” he said.

“A chef and his helper whom we have employed are busy cooking Indian and Chinese food. We will start serving it as soon as they are prepared. The Indian meal–Chawal-Dal, Roti, and Subzi–will be severed for Rs50 per plate, the same rate that we charged at our old eatery. The rate of Chinese food will be decided by the chef and my son,” said Prasad.
