Ex-cricketer Aakash Chopra deplores Rahul’s statements in US, Twitter goes into overdrive

The former cricketer though took dig at the Congress leader without taking his name, this triggered a Twitter storm with scores of people replying to him.

New Delhi: Former cricketer Akash Chopra on Friday lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his statements & criticism of Indian government from foreign soil.

Denouncing Congress leader’s barrage of allegations & criticism of Modi government in United States, the ex-cricketer delivered a piece of advice, ‘fight your battles in your own country’.

He also said that he hasn’t seen any opposition leader from India or any other nation throwing muck at its own govt and asked why the Congress leader was doing so & “painting a sorry image of the country”.

Aakash Chopra also started trending on Twitter, moments after he took dig at Rahul’s repeated rants against ruling dispensation, back home.


The former cricketer though took dig at the Congress leader without taking his name, this triggered a Twitter storm with scores of people replying to him. Many nodded with him but there were many who launched scathing attack and accused him of working at the behest of ruling party.

A couple of users wrote, the cricketer stood silent on wrestlers protest but chose to criticism Rahul when the latter was rightly mocking the government for its shortcomings & failures on many fronts.

Aakash’s denunciation of Rahul’s remarks in US resulted into war of words on Twitter, as many took sides and fired volleys at the Cong leader as well as former cricketer.

“What could be the motive? How’s a large Indian diaspora in The UK or States going to help you solve the problems?” Chopra further tweeted, when questioned by group of Twitter users.
