New Delhi: Team India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami once again shined in CWC 2023 by wreaking havoc with his exception bowling in India’s clash against Sri Lanka last night at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
In the match, sensational Shami continued his monstrous form and broke the spine of Sri Lanka’s batting lineup by castling 5 crucial wickets after conceding just 18 runs in his 5 over-long spell.
However, one particular action of the right arm during the match made him the target of Pakistani media and fans who went on to make a communal issue about the same.
Pakistani fans slam Shami for aborting Sajdah
It all happened when Shami, who was dismantling the Sri Lankan batsman with his fierce bowling spell, completed his second 5-wicket haul of the tournament by dismissing Kasun Rajitha in the 13th Over of the game.
Post his fifer, Overjoyed Shami succumbed to the ground and sat in a position that suggested that he was about to perform a Sajdah to thank the Almighty God for his success in the game.
However, against all the expectations, the pacer stood up without doing Sajdah and continued to celebrate his achievement with the rest of his teammates.
Shami’s act instantly grabbed the attention of Pakistani media and fans who took to social media and criticized the cricketer for not completing his Sajdah.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket fans jumped in support of Shami and hit back at the Pakistani people for dragging religion into everything instead of focusing on the game. This divided the internet and led to a heated internet war of words amongst fans from both sides.
Here are reactions from both sides on Mohammed Shami’s Sajdah issue
