IND vs WI: BCCI announces squad for 3 ODIs against West Indies; Rohit, Virat, Bumrah to rest

The Indian side, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan and the vice-captain of the team will be Ravindra Jadeja.

New Delhi: Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for 3 ODIs against West Indies. India will be on a tour to West Indies, where the teams will be playing 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the squad, which misses big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. These players are said to be rested for the ODI series. The Indian side, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan and the vice-captain of the team will be Ravindra Jadeja.

As Rishabh Pant, India’s regular wicket-keeper in ODIs, missed the series, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are named as the wicket-keepers in the squad. The management has shown trust in Ishan Kishan, which makes him the first-choice keeper, ahead of Sanju Samson, against the West Indies.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs:

Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Arshdeep Singh

While Shikhar Dhawan has captained the Indian side on the tour of Sri Lanka, it will be a new experience for Jadeja to be part of the leadership group. However, India will be playing white-ball cricket against England before leaving for West Indies. The senior players of the Indian team will be in the squad for T20Is and ODIs against England.
