Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will be returning home on Monday, with India’s first athletic gold medal. While the entire nation is eagerly waiting for Chopra’s return, the Olympian has opened up about his future plans and other life aspects in a recent interview.
Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev was in conversation with Chopra on ABP News, where the Olympian revealed an off-field side of his life.
Neeraj divulged about being the ‘fat child’ in the house, which happen to be the sole reason he was made to join and practice athletics. He said he had no aspiration of becoming an Javelin-thrower in the beginning.
Kapil Dev asked the young Olympian about the ‘pressure’ of marriage which might come round the corner with this success, to which Neeraj replied with a shy smile, “No I am completely focused on sports. Rest of the things will go on, but I would rather like to keep my entire focus on sports right now”.

Meanwhile talking of his non-sports background, “The time I went to the stadium, sports was never part of the plan, neither was playing for country & winning a medal. No one in my family or in my village is into sports. Later, I worked really hard & got great support from everyone,” Neeraj Chopra told ANI on Sunday.
