New Delhi: Ishan Kishan had the perfect debut as he scored his maiden half-century in T20I in his debut match. His extremely good performance led India to win the second T20I of the five match series. In his latest interview with his fellow teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, Kishan revealed what captain Kohli instructed him to do after he crossed the mark of 50-runs.

Ishan and Kohli put on a 94-run stand off just 56 balls for the second wicket. Ishan scored 56 runs in just 32 balls before getting dismissed by Adil Rashid. During his 3-minute interview Kishan said Kohli had to tell him to raise the bat after scoring his maiden half-century.

Kishan said, “I don’t have the habit of waving the bat in the air after hitting Fifty. I did not even realise that I had reached fifty until Kohli asked me to raised my bat to celebrate,” said Kishan. “‘Oye! debut match me fifty mari hai, chal charo or balla hawa me lehra’ (Oye! you have scored fifty on debut, celebrate it by raising your bat). Then I obeyed the captain’s order and waved the bat in the air.”

On the other hand, Chahal also revealed that Kishan’s new name in the dressing room is ‘Silky’.

Ishan also talked about the incredible energy of captain Virat Kohli, “Initially, it was difficult to match his levels. The energy he shows after a boundary or a double, I have never experienced before. But I understood at this level what sort of body language one needs to have. These sort of things I learnt from him.”

Virat Kohli also created history last night by becoming the first player to score 3,000 runs in T20 international cricket.
