PM Modi quips about 'Delhi's Chhole Bhature's loss' due to Virat Kohli's fitness, this is how cricketer responded (VIDEO)
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with several fitness enthusiasts from across the country on the sidelines of the1st anniversary of the Fit India movement. In the interaction with PM Modi, Virat Kohli said that he experienced the need for fitness levels to be better in his initial playing days.
During the conversation, PM Modi asked whether Delhi’s Chole Bhature business is suffering because Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is staying away from his favourite street food. PM Modi also asked if Kohli ever gets tired.
Responding to it, Virat Kohli said “I miss the chhole bhatoore in Delhi so much! But I never experienced health issues with our native diet. My grandmother is so healthy and she always used to eat homemade food. I, on the other hand, had city food because we travel everywhere. We used to eat out and some food items were unhealthy. So that made me realise that fitness is important,”.
Watch what Kohli said:
“Physical fitness and diet, focussing on these things brought about the changes in me. Just like our sport, our lives have also gotten faster and demanding. If we are not keeping up with it, then we will be left behind.”
Among other things, PM Modi was keen on understanding more about the Yo-Yo test and whether the captain is also required to be part of the exercise. Yo-Yo test, which measures the endurance level of athletes, has been made mandatory by the Indian cricket team, under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. The team management has made it a prerequisite for selection in the senior national team.
PM Modi also asked how Virat Kohli works on his time management and how he manages to keep himself refreshed and motivated after busy days at work.
Responding to it, Virat Kohli said he focuses on maintaining a proper diet, sleep pattern and recovery routines that enable him to quickly recover from tiredness.
“If I have to tell you honestly, everyone gets tired. But if your lifestyle is good, if you are eating good, if your fitness routine is good, if your sleep is good, then you will be able to recover faster. Whenever I feel tired, I am able to recover well. That’s because of my fitness routines,” Virat Kohli said.
Wrapping up the conversation, the Prime Minister congratulated Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma, who are expecting their first child in January.
