Ravichandran Ashwin dethroned from No.1 Test ranking even after a phenomenal performance against Bangladesh

In an extraordinary turn of events, right-arm off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has seen himself slipping from the No.1 Test ranking in bowling as released by ICC.

New Delhi: In an extraordinary turn of events, right-arm off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has seen himself slipping from the No.1 Test ranking in bowling as released by ICC. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has instead claimed the top spot of the ICC Test Rankings. The latest rankings have baffled many viewers who had anticipated that Ashwin would cement his position as the no.1 Test bowler in the latest ICC rankings.

Ashwin claimed five wickets of his own during that match and is only one point behind Bumrah’s rating of 870 points. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be buoyed by the improvements made from Mehidy Hasan (up four spots to 18th) and veteran spinner Shakib Al Hasan (up five places to 28th).

India recently completed a clean sweep over the Bangladeshi team owing to their ferocious bowling and ruthless batting. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal who had notched up half-centuries in both 1st and 2nd innings reached a new career-high rating when jumping two places to third on the updated Test batter rankings.

King Kohli also saw improvements in his Test rankings as he crawled back inside the top 10 after he gained six places to move to sixth overall following scores of 47 and 29* against Bangladesh.
