Virat Kohli dismissed on ‘0’ for 14th time, surpasses Rahul Dravid in list of most ducks

Virat Kolhi got knocked out for a duck in ODI cricket whereas this is the first time he got dismissed by a spinner with no score in the 50-over format of the game.

New Delhi: In the ongoing 2nd ODI match between India and South Africa, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli got dismissed at 0 at the Boland Park in Paarl on Friday. Kohli after getting 5 deliveries, Kolhi fell at 0. The left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj from South Africa delivered the ball towards him and after what appeared to be a lazy shot was caught by the cover fielder Temba Bavuma.

Kolhi just checked his shot which appeared to be a lazy effort as he gave away his wicket in the 13th over of the Indian innings in today’s match. India won the toss against South Africa and decided to bat in a do-or-die game.

Reportedly, this is the 14th time Virat Kolhi got knocked out for a duck in ODI cricket whereas this is the first time he got dismissed by a spinner with no score in the 50-over format of the game.

With today’s duck, Kohli surpassed the former captain and current head coach Rahul Dravid and Kapil Dev on an unwanted list of Indian batters who all got dismissed for 0s in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli in recent 64 innings hasn’t scored a single century in international cricket and today’s match accounts to be the 7th time he got dismissed at 0 during the same period of time.

The previous week, Kohli announced his retirement as India’s Test captain after their defeat against South Africa. He took to social media to announce the news of his retirement through an official statement. However, as a non-captain, he splendidly scored a half-century in the first ODI at Paarl on Wednesday.

Kohli’s dismissal put the Indian team under pressure as they lost the opener, Shikhar Dhawan, in the previous over in today’s ODI.
