New Delhi: Deepak Dhapola, an unknown cricketer till date has taken the centrestage and become talk of the town for an amazing feat that he achieved in a Ranji Trophy match against Himachal Pradesh.

Dhapola, the seam bowler from Uttarakhand scripted history on the opening day of Ranji Trophy Group A match on Tuesday, as he scalped 8 wickets in a match. His fine bowling devastated the rival Himachal team and it got bundled out just for 49 runs.

Dhapola dismissed 3 players for duck and posted figures of 8/35 off 8.3 overs on the scoreboard. Himachal team couldn’t face his onslaught and the whole team got dismissed in just 17 overs. None of Himachal batter could face his bowling attack and Ankit Kalsi was only to score in double digits (26 runs).

Later on Day 1, Uttarakhand began their innings and took a big 246 run lead against Himachal. Aditya Tare (91*) & Abhay Negi (48*) were batting till the end of day.

Dhapola bettered his record, this is how?

This is not the first time that the Uttarakhand seamer has achieved such feat. His previous best bowling record stands at 50/7 wickets in an innings.

Having made his first-class debut in 2018, the cricketer on Tuesday went on to better his previous record and bagged 8 wickets in a match. After his spectacular bowling, Himachal batters also made a beeline to the dressing room to congratulate the cricketer.

In 2018-19 Ranji Trophy also, Dhapola led his team in taming the rival teams in the Group Stage. He claimed 44 dismissals in 7 matches and took a total of 45 wickets in 8 games.

Deepak Dhapola, the latest bowling sensation is hogging all the limelight for his stupendous performance. However, he came in the spotlight after lot of struggle.

Deepak was born in Uttarakhand’s Bagheswar on June 26, 1990. He is 32 years old now. Though debuted late, Deepak has bagged 61 wickets while playing in 14 first class cricket. In List-A cricket (50 overs), he claimed 17 wickets in 13 matches.

Following his exploits in the Ranji match, top officials & management of BCCI came forward to praise his stellar performance.

Deepak Dhapola was visibly elated over all-round admiration.

” I am so happy and feel so glad after seeing the tweet of Jay Shah, I am so thankful to him and so happy,” Dhapola told media.
