Women ODI: Harmanpreet Kaur’s wierd run out in India Vs New Zealand match; WATCH VIDEO

India lost the match in Queenstown by three wickets with New Zealand taking a 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.

New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur, the T20I captain of India women is experiencing a tough time with her bat and what is adding salt to her wound is her luck. On Friday, things turned upside down for the middle-order batter in the third women’s ODI against New Zealand. She seemed to be napping after playing a shot which resulted in her being knocked out. India lost the match in Queenstown by three wickets with New Zealand taking a 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.

The incident happened on the 28th over with India being in a good position.

Harmanpreet was batting at 13, bat on the delivery from Frances Mackay, and gave a firm shot which straight went to the bowler. Instead of getting back into the crease, the Indian batter stood there.

On the other hand, Mackay threw the ball immediately to the wicketkeeper who in the blink of an eye whipped the bails off. Although Harmanpreet dived into the crease, unfortunately, she couldn’t make it on time and had to stand as out.

The team gave a good performance however, the bowlers needed to be better with their bowling, especially at crucial junctures.

Sabbhineni Meghana and Shafali Verma made a great start with their bat, both scoring half-centuries. However, Yastika Bhatia, captain Mithali Raj, and Harmanpreet Kaur failed to keep up their performance even after staring well. Deepti Sharma, on the other hand with minimal support scored 69 not out to take India’s score to 279 in 49.3 overs.

Jhulan Goswami successfully knocked out Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates within the first three overs. But in the end, they failed to keep up with their pace.

Amelia Kerr (67) and Amy Satterthwaite (59) help their team to overcome the tough moments while Lauren Down (64) and Katey Martin successfully end their game with five balls to spare.
