New Delhi: Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday broke the news of his exit as CEO of the microblogging website, with immediate effect.

Twitter Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Parag Agrawal will now take over the helm of global company.

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders,” Dorsey said in a statement. However, he didn’t disclose the reasons behind his exit from the social media firm with strong global presence.

Dorsey, 45, was serving as both the CEO of Twitter and Square, his digital payments company.

Parag Agrawal has been Twitter CTO since 2017 and has over a decade long association with the social media behemoth. He has been in charge of strategy involving artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Agrawal will have his task cut out as the company has set ambitious target of doubling its user base and also its revenue by 2023 end.
