New Delhi: Pakistan’s Babar Azam has overcome Virat Kohli to claim the second spot in the list of most runs in the T20Is after his knock of 41 against Australia in the third game against Australia in Hobart on Monday. The former Pakistani skipper is 4 runs above Virat Kohli’s current tally of T20 runs. Rohit Sharma still tops the list with 4231 runs.

However, both Virat and Rohit retired from T20Is following India’s triumphant T20 World Cup earlier this year. Naturally, there is a chance that Babar Azam might have a chance to become the most run-getter in T20 internationals. Apart from Babar, Mohammad Rizwan is the only other Pakistani player in the top 10 with 3329 runs.

Most runs in T20I:

Here are the top 5 run-getters of T20 Internationals:

  • 4231- Rohit Sharma (India)
  • 4192- Babar Azam (Pakistan)
  • 4188- Virat Kohli (India)
  • 3655- Paul Stirling (Ireland)
  • 3531- Martin Guptill (New Zealand)

Kohli gears up for the Australian challenge

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is gearing up for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. The former Indian batsman was earlier seen practising in the WACA ahead of the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. It was a practice simulation that was proposed by the BCCI within the Indian squad after the warm-up game against Australia was cancelled.

Kohli’s practice simulation lasted for 15-20 minutes which saw him score 15 runs before he was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar.

Subsequently, Kohli again came out to bat in the second stint after KL Rahul left the field due to an elbow injury. While Kohli looked keen to unleash some of his trademark drives, he wasn’t always successful due to the bounce the WACA pitch managed to produce from most spots.

One of the major problems has been Kohli’s form in red-ball cricket with the right-hand batsman scoring only a solitary score above 50.

With Kohli’s dwindling form and the absence of Rohit in WACA, can India inspire yet another comeback in Australia?
