Old VIDEO of Amit Shah falling from a stage in MP shown as that from Bengal

A couple of social media users are claiming that the Home Minister facing farmers ire over agri laws fell off while ‘escaping from the spot’. However, there is not an iota of truth in this claim.

New Delhi: A video of Home Minister Amit Shah falling from a stage is being widely shared on social media and the claim is that the incident took place in West Bengal.

The video clip went viral in the backdrop of Amit Shah’s visit to Kolkata on February 18, where he is set to take part in 5th phase of Poribortan Yatra.

The caption of the video refers to ongoing farmers protest and takes a dig at BJP.

“Amit Shah fell off the stage while running after seeing farmers in Kolkata rally,” the caption read.

In first instance, the video looks doctored. Moreover, in times of elections, dirty tricks department of various parties get active as they allegedly circulate fake news to gain political mileage.

No truth in viral clip & claim

Newsroompost.com did a fact check and found that the video is at least 2 years old and it has no relation with West Bengal Assembly elections.

In our investigation, we found that this video dates back to December 2018. The video is of Amit Shah slipping from a chariot during an election rally in Madhya Pradesh on November 24, 2018.
