New Delhi: According to the latest report by Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan is anticipated to take the role of mentorship and bowling coach for the Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming season of the IPL 2025. With the mega auction coming up next year teams are looking to rope in experience to their respective sides to build a strong foundation.
The Lucknow Super Giants have been without a mentor in their backend since Gautam Gambhir left to join his former club- the Kolkata Knight Riders. Gautam now has taken over the coaching duties of the Indian national cricket team.

Meanwhile, LSG also lost the services of Morne Morkel who was the bowling coach of Lucknow. Morkel followed Gambhir to join the Indian national cricket team as the bowling coach of the side.
In such a situation, Zaheer stands out to be an ideal candidate who can fill the void in the LSG camp. Zaheer’s job however seems to be clearly laid out by the management as they said, “He will also be a key interlocutor, rather a go-between, for players and the management of the franchise.”
Track record of LSG
LSG has been one of the most successful teams in the IPL making the playoffs twice in three years of IPL. However, things have started to spiral out in the Lucknow camp with the owners and the captain arguing furiously against each other.
Since then, things have looked perilous for the new franchise. With captain KL Rahul’s position also in jeopardy, things can break down completely for the Supergiants. In this obnoxious and nefarious atmosphere, Zaheer has to play both the role of a mentor as well as a bridge between the players and the management to ensure things remain under control.
