New Delhi: The story of Mahadev betting App is no less than a fairytale, as two men from humble backgrounds in Chhattisgarh visiting abroad and turning millionaires overnight. Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the two minds behind Mahadev betting App, have caught the attention of just betting enthusiasts but also the investigative agencies, because of their illegal means to rake in the moolah.

One of them recently had an extravagant & opulent in Dubai, the cost of which reportedly crossed past Rs 200 crore. This prompted action from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) back home, which has attached their assets after conducting raids in at least 39 locations.

The saga of 2 common men, rising to global prominence from oblivion and amassing wealth in crores, is also a Netflix drama in the making, reports suggest. However, the masterminds along with many Bollywood celebs have come under the lens for investigative agencies.

There, they found this app facilitating betting in various sports including cricket, badminton, table tennis & more.
The duo recently visited Australia but were denied entry, in the backdrop of ongoing money laundering proceedings against them. They had gone to Down Under for sight-seeing & some business meets but returned from airport. From there, they went to United Arab Emirates.

What is Mahadev betting scam case?

The Mahadev betting App is a betting conglomerate, providing multiple illegal services under its banner. From online casinos to betting in games, it caters to lakhs of betting enthusiasts via illegal online channels.

The betting application runs multiple websites & applications under the brand Mahadev Book app and facilitates betting in sports like badminton, cricket, tennis, football & more.

The App has been banned in India, however, it continues to operate in several other nations.

Why Bollywood celebs under ED scanner?

In past few months, the ED has carried out multiple searches/raids at multiple locations and seized assets worth ₹417 crore in connection with probe against Mahadev Online Book betting app. Till now, 72 cases have been lodged and 449 suspects arrested from Chhattisgarh & other parts of the country.

A couple of Bollywood celebrities have also come under the ED lens, which include Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

They drew the attention of ED, after attending the lavish wedding celebrations of Mahadev promoter Sourabh Chandrakar, which took place in Dubai in February, this year.

ED believes that this wedding involved a huge hawala transaction as wedding planners, dancers & decorators were hired in Mumbai for Dubai wedding. The agency claims that Rs 112 crore was delivered to events management company via hawala.
