New Delhi: Year 2023 saw some big Bollywood blockbuster movies including SRK’s Pathan, Jawan and Rabir’s Animal, however, 12th Fail was one movie that caught the imagination of cinema lovers with its offbeat content & storyline and has been going strong since release.
The movie, made on inspirational real-life story has drawn praise from all quarters. Latest to join the list is Kangana Ranaut. The actress today heaped praises on actor Vikrant Massey as well as director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
However, netizens didn’t take Kangana’s admiration on face value. Many of them dug deep into actress’s X (formerly twitter) timeline and called out her ‘opportunistic’ greetings. Many showed her the mirror by reminding that it was she who called Vikrant a ‘cockroach’.
Vikrant Massey, the main protagonist of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial, is basking under the glory of film’s success and also getting accolades for credible & convincing portrayal of real-life story on celluloid.
Kangana wrote on her instagram stories, “What a terrific film. Coming from Hindi medium myself belonging to a rural village and being a general caste student for entry tests without reservations in my school years, I was weeping throughout the film, ufff never cried so much in a flight.”
Seeing a gem of talent in Vikrant, she further wrote, “Vikrant Massey is beyond amazing!! In his coming years he might just fill the void Irfan Khan saab left behind…salutations to your talent dear one.”
Kangana, Vikrant & cockroach jibe.. what happened
It all happened during actress Yami Gautam marriage in 2021. Yami had posted a picture from her marriage. Decked up in all-red, she posted her bridal look on social media and expectedly drew lot of reactions from fellow fraternity and her fans.
Vikrant playfully teased Yami Gautam, a Himachal native, ‘Radhe Maa’ but Kangana didn’t find it ‘welcoming’. Rather than glossing over it, she tagged Vikrant Massey and called him ‘cockroach’.

Vikrant commented on Instagram, “Pure and pious like Radhe Maa” while Kangana’d distasteful caption read, “Kahan se nikla ye cockroach. Laao meri chappal (Where has this cockroach come from, bring my slippers).”
Though, Kangana & Vikrant didn’t engage in any vitriolic chat after that but the latter when spoken about it later, said ”I stay away from toxicity in my life. Hence, I don’t go to Twitter and I maintain a distance from it. I also feel it is one of worst public discourse forums to have.”
He also said that he doesn’t pay attention to such ‘nonsense talk’ and rather focus on his craft.
