‘Squid Game is advanced version of Luck’: Netizens finds similarity between the K-drama and Bollywood’s Luck

Netizens have took to Twitter to outwrite the similarities the found between the K-drama Squid Game and Bollywood movie Luck. Luck was released in 2009 starred Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Shruti Hassan.

As soon as Korean drama Squid Game dropped on Netflix, it became the talk of the town for its gripping and gut-wrenching storyline. However, many of those Bollywood fans who have completed watching the survival game series are finding similarities with the 2009 Sanjay Dutt’s movie Luck.

Squid Game is a thriller that revolves around 450-odd contestants playing to win a jackpot amount. The nine episodes series shows that six games are arranged for the participants to play. Those who win these games move forward, while the losers are left to die. Luck also followed a similar storyline, thus leaving fans screaming, “Bollywood did it first.”

Viewers opine that the only difference between the two productions is the Squid Game had a way higher budget than the Bollywood movie Luck. This is the only reason for the craze of the views while Luck did an average at the box office.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of Squid Game stated, “Korean society, I would say, is a very dynamic one. It is the only single country remaining divided in the world. The people of the same origin are divided because of the military tension and there are a lot of people staying in a small-sized land” which resulted in the popularity of the show.

Squid Game features Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Kim Joo-ryoung, Heo Sung-tae, Oh Young-soo, Lee Yoo-mi, and Gong Yoo, among many others. On the contrary, Luck starred, Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, and Shruti Haasan.
