New Delhi: We often order food from food delivery sites like Zomato or Swiggy. Besides, it will be less to thank those delivery boys who deliver our anticipated dishes safely and on time. We hardly think of their religion or caste, rather reward them for to their hard job when they deliver our orders. However, the Internet was taken aback when a customer requested Swiggy not to send any Muslim delivery boy to deliver the order.
The incident happened in Hyderabad when a customer ordered food from Swiggy and in the delivery instruction box stated that his food shouldn’t be delivered by a Muslim delivery boy. Shaik Salauddin, chairman of Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC shared the screenshot of the instruction made by the customer and asked Swiggy to take a stand against such insane requests. In the post, he wrote, “Dear @Swiggy please take a stand against such a bigoted request. We (Delivery workers) are here to deliver food to one and all, be it Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh @Swiggy @TGPWU Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna.”

Twitter seemed to be enraged by such blizzard demands and suggested that such customers shouldn’t be appreciated and should be banned. Karti Chidambaram, Congress MP from Karnataka, also expressed anger and wrote, “Platform companies cannot sit back and watch as gig workers face such blatant bigotry in the name of religion. What action will such companies take to safeguard the rights of gig workers?”

While another user wrote, “This guy should be blacklisted and there are no two way discussions about it. I do want to blacklist all people who mix religion in food.”
This man must be black listed – no one should deliver here

What is this, @Swiggy? Where is your response? If we don’t hear a satisfactory response soon, my family and I are all switching to @zomato. https://t.co/Q4A0FHEU0i

I think this incident is very shameful for the country and for the countrymen. This is India where people of all religions love each other. There is no place in this country for those who do such hateful acts. @Swiggy is requested to take strict action against such people. https://t.co/zV18ocnE67
