In Bihar elections, will it be Lalu’s son vs daughter-in-law? Aishwarya may fight polls on JD(U) ticket, say reports

Reports have emerged that after Chandrika Rai, his daughter is also likely to join JD(U) and may contest directly against Tej Pratap

New Delhi: A day after RJD chief Lalu Yadav’s ‘samadhi’ joined Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) along with 2 other MLAs, reports have surfaced that Lalu’s daughter in law Aishwarya will contest polls on JD(U) ticket.

Aishwary married Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap but the duo soon fell out over differences in relationship.

Rai’s daughter Aishwarya had tied the knot with Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav in May, 2018 though the latter filed a divorce petition barely six months later citing incompatibility. The matter is pending with a Patna court.

This also soured the relations between Lalu and his ‘Samadhi‘ Chandrika Rai, who is senior party leader.

Reports have emerged that after Chandrika Rai, his daughter is also likely to join JD(U) and may contest directly against Tej Pratap as a response to ‘constant humiliation’.

Pained at ‘humiliation’, Lalu’s Samadhi quits RJD

For long, it was anticipated that Chandrika Rai will quit RJD and join hands with Nitish Kumar. This is what happened on Thursday, when he along with 2 other RJD MLAs joined Nitish Kumar’s party.

Apart from Rai, the other two RJD MLAs who embraced JD-U are — Jai Vardhan Yadav, the Paliganj (Patna) MLA and grandson of former Union minister and famous Yadav leader Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav besides Faraz Fatmi, MLA from Keoti (Darbhanga).

Fatmi is the son of the former Union minister Mohammad Ali Ashraf Fatmi, who had quit the RJD during 2019 Lok Sabha elections after he was denied ticket.

Fatmi senior is currently with the JD-U headed by chief minister Nitish Kumar.
