Kashmiri man denied entry by Delhi hotel in viral video; Police release statement

A Kashmiri man was denied entry by Delhi hotel in a viral video after which Delhi Police have released statement.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a man from Jammu and Kashmir was denied entry by Delhi hotel after which the video has gone viral on social media.

Soon after this, the hotel, which is listed under hotel aggregation firm Oyo Rooms, is facing heat on social media.

In the viral video, a women can be seen at the hotel reception who is not letting a Kashmiri resident check-in even after the man shows her valid identity proofs, including Aadhaar Card.

According to reports, it is said that the man had booked a room in the hotel through the Oyo website.

She can also be seen making a call to her senior after being confronted by the man.

After some time the women at the reception tells Kashmiri man that they have been instructed by the Delhi Police to not accommodate Kashmiri citizens in the hotel.

The incident came to limelight by Nasir Khuehami, National Spokesperson Of Jammu And Kashmir Students’ Association.

Later on Wednesday, the Delhi Police issued a clarification in a series of tweets. Delhi Police said that they did not give any such directions to the hotels in Delhi.

Here is what Delhi Police Tweeted:

“A purported video is viral on social media wherein a person is being denied hotel reservation due to his J&K ID. Reason for cancellation is being given as direction from police… no such direction has been given… willful misrepresentation can attract penal action.”

“Some netizens are trying to discredit the image of Delhi Police through willful misrepresentation of the video in circulation which can attract penal action.”
