New vaccine milestone in UP: Over 9 crore get 1st dose; 40 districts Covid free, recovery rate @ 99%

Uttar Pradesh on Friday achieved yet another benchmark of testing over 8 crore samples for novel coronavirus infection. Testing an average 2-3 lakh samples daily, Uttar Pradesh became the first state in the country to cross the milestone.

New Delhi: The Covid control mechanism in Uttar Pradesh gets further boost as 40 districts have become free of Coronavirus with active as well as fresh Covid-19 cases declining to zero.

The drop in fresh and active cases in Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Azamgarh, Badaun, Baghpat, Ballia, Balrampur, Basti, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Kushinagar , Lakhimpur-Kheri, Lalitpur, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Mathura, Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shravasti, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Unnao and Varanasi indicate complete elimination of coronavirus from over 53 percent of the state.

With Highest Testing, Highest Recovery Rate, Lowest Test Positivity Rate and Aggressive Vaccination, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a clear winner in combating coronavirus as the state’s covid condition shows a healthier picture in comparison to all other states.

In what comes as a big relief, none of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh have reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double-digits lately. Indicating signs that the dangerous virus is receding from the state, as many as 66 districts reported no case of covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours.

In another significant development, the Active Caseload in the most populous state which was at a high of 3,10,783 in April, has been reduced to 145 now, whereas states like Kerala and Maharashtra account for a heavy active caseload of 1,18,806 and 33,397 respectively.

40 districts are now Covid-19 free, recovery rate over 98.8 percent

The transmission levels in the state have been brought down by restricting the fresh cases below 50 for over eight weeks.

Out of over 1.80 lakh samples tested in the last 24 hours, as many as 11 tested positive in the most populous state. In the same period, another 18 patients also recovered from the infection, adding to the recovery of over 16,86,887 people so far.

Measures such as the aggressive ‘Trace, Test & Treat’ and prevention through vaccination and Partial Corona Curfews to eradicate the pandemic, the UP government has left no stone unturned to minimise its devastating impact, as a result of which the positivity rate has slumped to lower than 0.01 per cent.

Early detection and isolation of potentially infectious individuals are the keys to successfully fighting a viral pandemic. Recognizing which the Yogi-led government in Uttar Pradesh intensified the stringent T3 mechanism throughout the state.

Uttar Pradesh has been testing samples over ten times more than the prescribed testing protocol for the state by the global health body World Health Organization. The testing protocol by the WHO for Uttar Pradesh is 32,000 tests per day, whereas the Covid testing in the state has hovered between 250,000 and 200,000 of late.

In terms of Contact tracing too, Uttar Pradesh has left behind all other states by conducting 39.9 tests per positive case.

Emerging successful in the fight against Covid-19, the state of Uttar Pradesh on October 8, crossed a significant landmark administering more than 9 crore first dose of Covid-19.

The most populous state has so far given the ‘Shots of Life’ to more than 11,35,74,211 people.

In addition, by administering over 9,00,49,454 first doses of the vaccine, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose to more than 60 percent of the eligible adult population. Over 2,35,24,757 crore people in the state have been fully vaccinated.

UP has set an example in front of other states of the country, besides controlling the infection in a short time. On the other hand, Maharashtra lags behind with 8.60 crore doses delivered so far.
