PM Modi to launch projects worth Rs 16,000 crore in Bihar over next 10 days

Prime Minister will launch these projects over next 10 days in Bihar, where elections are due by November. Recently, the state was ravaged by floods and currently reeling under the major spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

New Delhi: In what could come as a massive financial boost to the poll-bound Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to launch and inaugurate many developmental projects in the state amounting to Rs 16,000 crore.

Prime Minister will launch these projects over next 10 days in Bihar, where elections are due by November. Recently, the state was ravaged by floods and currently reeling under the major spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

The ‘developmental package’ comprising of infrastructure and ease of living projects will go a long way in addressing the long pending issues in the state.

These projects would pertain to a number of sectors, including LPG pipeline, LPG bottling plant, sewage treatment plant under Namami Gange, water supply schemes, riverfront development project, new railway line, railway bridge, electrification of various sections and construction of highways and bridges.

Modi - Namami Gange project -

According to Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, PM Modi will be inaugurating and laying foundations for a slew of projects till September 25 in 5 phases.

Bihar elections are expected to take place in October/November and the Election Commission (EC) has indicated that the process would get completed before the tenure of the current legislative assembly ends on November 29.

3 dedicated projects for petroleum sector

PM Modi will dedicate to three petroleum projects in Bihar through video conference on Sunday.

The projects include Durgapur-Banka section of aradip-Haldia-Durgapur pipeline augmentation project and 2 LPG bottling plants – Banka and East Champaran.

The 193-km long Durgapur-Banka pipeline section, built by Indian Oil, is part of Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur pipeline augmentation project for which the foundation stone was laid by the prime minister in February 2019.

This bottling plant has been built at an investment of around Rs 131.75 crore while the bottling plant at Harsidhi in East Champaran has been constructed at a cost of Rs 136.4 crores. This will cater to the LPG requirement of many adjoining districts.

PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of the project in April 2018, the PMO said.
