#RejectZomato trends as support executive asks customer to learn ‘national language’ Hindi

New Delhi: Food delivery app Zomato faced harsh criticism on microblogging site Twitter, after a customer alleged that he was called a ‘liar’ for not knowing Hindi language.

The customer from Tamil Nadu, who has been identified as Vikash, took to Twitter and shared a several screen-shots of his conversation with the customer service executive of Zomato with caption, “Ordered food in zomato and an item was missed. Customer care says amount can’t be refunded as I didn’t know Hindi. Also takes lesson that being an Indian I should know Hindi. Tagged me a liar as he didn’t know Tamil. @zomato not the way you talk to a customer. @zomatocare.”

 

In the conversation, when the executive told Vikash that his refund could not be initiated due to language barrier with the restaurants.

To this, Vikash replied, “if Zomato is available in Tamil Nadu, they should have hired people who understand the language.”

“For your kind information, Hindi is our national language. So it is very common that  everybody should know Hindi a little bit,” executive had replied.

Zomato has termed the incident as ‘unacceptable’. To which Vikash has asked for an public apology from the relation customer care executive.
